The oldest document about this mosque is an epitaph, written in a stone table and found in the bottom of minaret of Sejmenska Mosque in Zenica. The epitaph was written in Turkish.
Available historical documents quote that Sultan Ahmed's Mosque was built on the fundaments of Sultan Sulejmans'Mosque in 1720.
There were no evidences about the mosque untill 1872 when the Mosque was renewed after the floods.
This Mosque was very important for educational and cultural life in Zenica.
The Mosque was announced as a national monument.
