Tesanj is set between hills next to the river Tesanjka, on about 230 m above sea level. You have to approach Tesanj intentionally from the crossroad in Doboj Jug to Tesanjka or Jelah and then following good asphalted road to Tesanj. The municipality of Tesanj covers the area of 160 square kilometers and it is inhabited by 53 000 inhabitants. The municipality of Tesanj borders with Doboj, Doboj jug, Usora, Teslic and Maglaj. Beside the natural beauties, Tesanj has very rich history. Tesanj by this name was first mentioned in 1461 in the document where the king Stjepan Tomasevic gave “town Tesanj on the river Usora” to his uncle Radivoj Krstic. Tesanj in its town centre has many cultural and historical monuments and some of them are castle Gradina, one of the biggest castles in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Frehadija mosque, built in 1564 and many others. Very interesting building is clock tower – Sahat kula, which is one of the rest four clock towers in Bosnia and Herzegovina that still work. It was built in 17th century and it is 18,5 m high. There is also Eminagica konak, the oldest and the most beautiful family building in Tesanj. It was built in 1860. Tesanj area is well-known in the world for its quality mineral waters that gained the greatest world water quality award. For all mentioned, tourist and recreation zone Kiseljak in Tesanj is very interesting destination as for health as for gastronomy too, for everybody who appreciate natural values and self-health.
